Forestry Commission In Wales

EDM number 843 in 1990-91, proposed by Geraint Howells on 15/05/1991.

That this House deplores Her Majesty's Government's decision to split the Forestry Commission into authority and enterprise departments; believes the planned transfer of its headquarters from Aberystwyth to Cardiff with the consequent loss of jobs in a rural area is in direct contradiction of Her Majesty's Government's supposed policy of decentralisation and encouraging jobs in rural areas; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to reverse this decision and safeguard rural employment.

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
