Hospital Car Parking And Vulnerable People

EDM number 1462 in 2017-19, proposed by Robert Halfon on 27/06/2018.
Categorised under the topics of Health services and Roads.

That this House notes the Department of Health and Social Care guidance, entitled NHS patient, visitor and staff car parking principles; further notes that the guidance states specifically that concessions should be available for disabled people, long-term patients and staff working shifts that mean public transport cannot be used; is disappointed that many hospitals do not follow that guidance; regrets that this causes the most vulnerable patients to be the most affected financially; and therefore urges the Government to introduce legislation to abolish car parking charges in England.
