That this House recognises the 130 year anniversary of the Burgh of Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire; further recognises the debt owed to those who made the burgh their home and helped to create a powerhouse of 20th century engineering through the construction of the great liners of the Cunard Line, such as the Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth and the QEII, as well as the Singer Sewing Machines which transformed textiles manufacturing across the globe; wishes to acknowledge and congratulate the town and community of Clydebank on the 130th anniversary of it becoming a burgh on 18 November 1886; acknowledges the town's many achievements over this period and considers that a debt of gratitude is owed to the community of Clydebank for its lasting legacy to the world of transport; recognises the valour of its citizens in the fight against national socialism and in rebuilding its Allied War Industries during and after the Blitzkrieg of 1941; and wishes the town and citizens of Clydebank a future where they continue to achieve, through the words of the burgh's motto By Work and By Knowledge, access to a future based on invention, manufacturing and industry and where its successes match those of what it considers its magnificent and proud past.
