Inclusive Education For Disabled Persons
EDM number 484 in 2016-17, proposed by Angela Crawley on 15/09/2016.
Categorised under the topic of Special educational needs.
That this House supports the UN General Comment of August 2016 backing calls for inclusive education for children and adults with disabilities; acknowledges that inclusive education can provide both quality education and social development for persons with disabilities, and help develop inclusive, peaceful and fair societies; agrees that inclusive education should focus on the full and effective participation, accessibility, attendance and achievement of all students, especially those who are excluded or at risk of being marginalised; and recognises that enabling inclusive education may require in-depth transformation of education systems in legislation, policy and the way education is financed, administered, designed, taught and monitored.
