Provision Of Naloxone To Ex-Prisoners With A History Of Opiate Use
EDM number 31 in 2016-17, proposed by Mary Glindon on 18/05/2016.
Categorised under the topics of Drugs misuse, Health services and Prisons.
That this House recognises the vulnerability of prisoners following their release and susceptibility of substance misusers to overdose; recognises that overdose deaths are preventable with Naloxone; notes that provision of Naloxone remains patchy, particularly in England; further notes that this is hampered by the fragmented criminal justice and health provision; believes it is essential that Naloxone is made available to all prisoners with a history of opiate use upon release; and calls on the Government to take urgent action to prevent further needless deaths by ensuring clear co-ordination of provision.
