Internet Delivery Charges And Service
EDM number 942 in 2015-16, proposed by Drew Hendry on 12/01/2016.
Categorised under the topics of Internet and cybercrime and Postal services.
That this House recognises the inequality across the nations of the UK of charging and service for delivery of goods bought through internet transactions and welcomes the work already done by Citizens Advice Scotland, Citizens Advice and the Consumer Council for Northern Ireland to highlight the ongoing inequity of delivery services to rural areas; and calls on the Government to bring forward legislative proposals for a People's Delivery Guarantee which, in addition to the introduction of a recognised fair delivery quality mark for responsible retailers, would put an end to the practice of allowing advertising to state, for example, free delivery to the UK mainland whilst simultaneously including exceptions that mean higher charges for specific postcodes, and should also include the right for consumers to specify delivery by Royal Mail or to arrange their own collection if this is the cheapest delivery option.
