Better Than Zero Campaign
EDM number 892 in 2015-16, proposed by Chris Stephens on 16/12/2015.
Categorised under the topics of Employment and Industrial relations.
That this House supports the Better than Zero campaign, organised by the STUC, the Style Youth Committee, affiliated trades unions and young precarious workers, which is a collective project against zero hours, zero rights, zero pay and zero respect workplaces and highlights insecure and low paid work affecting young workers and seeks to end discrimination and exploitation which exists in many workplaces and many sectors of the economy; believes that this campaign highlights bad employment practices, provides a voice to young workers who are more often at the receiving end of such bad practice and provides a platform for young trades union activists to play a full and active part in the trade union movement; and further believes that this project gives young workers the confidence to stand up against exploitation.
