Cold Water Island Tourism Conference 2016

EDM number 1239 in 2015-16, proposed by Patricia Gibson on 11/03/2016.
Categorised under the topic of Tourism.

That this House welcomes the second Cold Water Island Tourism Conference, which is to be held from 14 to 16 March 2016 on the Isle of Arran, following what it considers the tremendous success of that conference in 2015; notes that Cold Water Island Tourism (CWIT) is an initiative to promote, celebrate and help develop tourism on small cold water island destinations around the world; understands that the 2016 conference will focus mainly on how architecture, design and innovative thinking can influence and inform economic and community development, regeneration, tourism, energy and environment; further notes that a range of experts from across Europe will participate; believes that the CWIT initiative ties in with the EU Blue Growth Strategy and the new focus on cold water islands as part of the EU programmes in 2014 to 2021; and wishes CWIT every success in organising the conference and in its future endeavours.
