Braeholm Naval Family And Accommodation Centre
EDM number 1055 in 2015-16, proposed by Brendan O'Hara on 02/02/2016.

That this House regrets the decision by the naval charity Aggie Weston's to close The Braeholm Naval Family and Accommodation Centre in Helensburgh in June 2016; notes that this decision comes at a time when the number of naval personnel expected to serve at HM Naval Base Clyde is proposed to increase by 2020; further notes that The Braeholm provides essential, high-quality accommodation for visiting personnel and their families, a chaplaincy, a fitness room and a coffee shop as well as an award-winning kindergarten, the owner of which was recently awarded an MBE for services to pre-school education; notes that the closure of The Braeholm will result in the loss of a vital resource in the town of Helensburgh and the loss of at least 14 local jobs; and regrets that the Ministry of Defence has failed to support The Braeholm Naval Family and Accommodation Centre by accommodating visiting naval personnel in alternative accommodation within the Helensburgh area.
