Categorised under the topics of Emergency services, Incomes and poverty and Pay.
That this House recognises the work carried out by the dedicated staff of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA); notes the impact this has in saving thousands of lives a year as well as the impact on the industry and economy of this country; notes that Coastguard Watch assistants earn only just above the national minimum wage; and calls for a pay correction that addresses the huge disparity in pay rates between MCA and comparable emergency services and that recognises the value of their professionalism.
