Public Lending Right

EDM number 932 in 2007-08, proposed by Ian Gibson on 18/02/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Arts and Public expenditure.

That this House notes with dismay the decision of the Government to reduce the funding to the Public Lending Right by over £2 million in real terms over the next three years; considers this will have adverse effects on over 30,000 writers in what has been sanctioned a National Year for Reading; and calls upon the Government to reconsider this decision and ensure that writers receive fair payment for fair use.

This motion has been signed by a total of 38 MPs.
