EDM number 659 in 2007-08, proposed by Alistair Carmichael on 08/01/2008.
That this House welcomes the release and return back to the UK of Kenny Richey, after spending more than 21 years on death row in Ohio; notes that the state prosecution authorities have dropped the charges of murder and arson against him; congratulates all those who have campaigned for Kenny's release, in particular the legal firm of Goodwin Procter, which has been representing Mr Richey on a pro bono basis since 1993, anti-death penalty campaigner Karen Torley, anti-death penalty organisation Repreive and Amnesty International; expresses its sympathy for the family of Cynthia Collins whose death has never been properly investigated; and recognises that Mr Richey will face tough challenges re-adjusting to life in Scotland after his years on death row and sends him all good wishes in facing these challenges.
