Housing Affordability In The South West

EDM number 48 in 2007-08, proposed by Adrian Sanders on 06/11/2007.

That this House notes that the income to house price ratio in the far South West shows the enormous problems that people experience when trying to get on the property ladder; notes in particular that the areas of Torbay, Penwith, Kerrier, South Hams, Restormel, Carrick, Teignbridge, West Devon and North Devon are in the top 40 of local authorities with the highest house price to income gaps amongst those of first-time buying age; and calls on the Government to look at ways to encourage affordable housing in the far South West and at schemes to help first-time buyers in areas where there is a large income to house price gap.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
