Greyhounds

That this House calls on the Government to address animal welfare concerns within greyhound racing; notes that 10,000 greyhounds retire from racing each year, but just 3,500 are re-homed through the largely industry-funded Retired Greyhound Trust and 1,500 through animal welfare charities; is concerned about the numbers of greyhounds unaccounted for; and calls upon the Government to introduce appropriate codes of practice under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 at the earliest opportunity.
