That this House commends the unsung efforts of over 5,000 WRVS volunteers on call night and day to respond to emergencies and disasters in communities throughout Britain; thanks them for the support that they have provided to over 11,000 people caught up in emergencies so far this year from major disasters like the summer floods to local emergencies such as helping the elderly in power cuts or evacuees from fires; notes that this amazing achievement is a testament to tremendous community spirit; and supports WRVS's call for more people in local communities to volunteer with them in their area, so that local communities are better prepared for emergencies, big or small, whenever they strike.
