Jewish Population In East London
EDM number 271 in 2007-08, proposed by Diane Abbott on 14/11/2007.
Categorised under the topics of Equality and Religion and faith communities.
That this House recognises the results of the Institute for Jewish Policy Research recent report into the Jewish community in Britain which found that the Jewish community in east London is experiencing higher levels of social exclusion than the Jewish communities in the rest of the country; notes that the results of the report find Jewish families in Hackney are more likely to be living in social rented accommodation, overcrowded conditions and having fewer or no qualifications compared to Jewish families elsewhere; believes that more work needs to be done to address these inequalities; and calls on the Government to research this matter further.
