BRITISH AIRWAYS' DECISION TO END DIRECT INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS FROM MANCHESTER
EDM number 1372 in 2007-08, proposed by Mark Hunter on 22/04/2008.
Categorised under the topic of Aviation.
That this House notes with dismay the decision by British Airways (BA) to withdraw all of its direct international flights, particularly the New York service, from Manchester Airport; believes this is just the latest example of BA's lack of commitment to the regions of the UK; recognises the consequences of service withdrawal will mean massive inconvenience for many North West residents and added pressure on an already struggling Heathrow Airport; is concerned about the environmental impact of extra short-haul flights that will be needed when direct international flights are cancelled; and calls upon BA to reconsider its decision.
