Host UK

EDM number 1070 in 2007-08, proposed by Nigel Evans on 27/02/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Cultural heritage and Students.

That this House salutes the excellent work by HOST UK which has enabled more than 35,000 international students over the past 20 years to live in a British family; welcomes the fact that this scheme allows international students to understand first hand British culture and beliefs; is dismayed at the recent decision by the Government to withdraw its funding to HOST UK, without which the charity cannot survive; and calls upon the Government to look again at the withdrawal of HOST UK's funding and to re-instate the £140,000 per annum needed to keep HOST UK financially viable.

This motion has been signed by a total of 53 MPs.
