National Lottery Funding And The Olympic Games

EDM number 843 in 2006-07, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 06/02/2007.

That this House welcomes the 2012 Olympic Games due to be held in London and recognises the benefits this will bring to the whole of the UK; notes that a debate is currently taking place regarding a shortfall in funding of £900 million for the Games; recognises the concerns of voluntary organisations which are worried that money from the National Lottery will be directed towards the Olympic Games as opposed to good causes; and calls on the Government to ensure that the Olympic Games are adequately funded without depriving the National Lottery distributors of the funds needed to support local voluntary and community sector activities.

This motion has been signed by a total of 56 MPs.
