Secure Letter Boxes
EDM number 706 in 2006-07, proposed by Bob Russell on 22/01/2007.
That this House is concerned that communal housing schemes often have letter boxes which are too small, located where delivery is difficult and not secure; believes that specific planning legislation and building regulations are required to ensure that all such developments have letter boxes which are secure, sensibly located for the benefit of residents and suitably located to enable deliveries to take place at any time of the day; and in the meantime calls on the Department for Communities and Local Government to issue to developers and planning authorities a comprehensive Planning Note bringing together information on section 17 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, the Department's guidance `Safer Places: The Planning System and Crime Prevention' and Planning Policy Statement 3: Housing to ensure that communal residential schemes are provided with secure and sensibly located letter boxes.
