Unitary Authorities

EDM number 1944 in 2006-07, proposed by Timothy Farron on 18/07/2007.

That this House believes that in order to be effective and valid, local government structures should reflect the communities that they serve and have the confidence of local residents; and therefore calls upon the Government to reject bids for unitary status where there is clear evidence of strong public opposition to those bids.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs.
