SHETLAND MUSEUM AND ARCHIVES AND THE ST NINIAN'S ISLE TREASURE
EDM number 1602 in 2006-07, proposed by Alistair Carmichael on 05/06/2007.
That this House congratulates the Shetland Amenity Trust on the opening of the new Shetland Museum and Archives in Lerwick on Thursday 31st May performed jointly by the Duke of Rothesay and Queen Sonja of Norway; believes that this magnificent building is the best possible place for the St Ninian's Isle treasure to be placed on permanent display; and calls on the National Museum of Scotland to return the treasure to the islands, where it can be displayed securely and appropriately for the enjoyment of the Shetlanders and the many visitors to the islands.
