LEGAL SERVICES COMMISSION'S PROPOSED INTRODUCTION OF PRICE COMPETITIVE TENDERING TO THE CRIMINAL LEGAL AID SYSTEM
EDM number 244 in 2005-06, proposed by Keith Vaz on 06/06/2005.
That this House notes with concern the Legal Services Commission's (LSC) proposed plans to introduce price competitive tendering to the Criminal Legal Aid System; expresses concern that the changes would force smaller, high street solicitors out of business; fears the proposals would have a particularly detrimental effect on vulnerable members of the community, and black and ethnic minority communities; and urges the LSC to carry out a pilot scheme so that the full effects of the proposals can be properly ascertained.
