CANCERBACKUP'S AUDIO INFORMATION PROJECT

EDM number 2015 in 2005-06, proposed by Sandra Gidley on 24/04/2006.

That this House notes that an estimated one million people who will be affected by cancer at some point in their lives have sight problems, dyslexia or a reading disability; congratulates cancer information charity Cancerbackup on the launch of the UK's first nationally available series of audio information for people affected by cancer; further notes that audio cancer information enables people with cancer and a print disability to have a degree of independence and privacy hitherto impossible; welcomes the fact that audio information is now available on many of the main cancers, key treatments and main supportive issues dealing with cancer; further notes that this project is funded by a Department of Health section 64 grant; and calls on the Government to ensure that fully accessible healthcare information is available throughout the UK.

This motion has been signed by a total of 57 MPs.
