Impact Of The Immigration, Asylum And Nationality Bill On Indian And Chinese Restaurants
EDM number 1524 in 2005-06, proposed by Keith Vaz on 31/01/2006.
That this House notes with concern that the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Bill will have a disproportionate and damaging impact on Chinese, Indian and other restaurants specialising in non-European cuisines; acknowledges the immense contribution these restaurants have made by enriching British social, economic and culinary life; calls for the recognition of the specialist skills of chefs of non-European restaurants which cannot easily be replaced from within the European Union; and urges the Government to reflect on the proposed changes and to bring forward further changes to satisfy those concerned.
