Whaling (No. 2)
EDM number 1485 in 2005-06, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 26/01/2006.
That this House notes the huge amount of public sympathy expressed over the bottle nosed whale recently stranded in the River Thames; pays tribute to the efforts made by the various rescue workers and animal welfare agencies in trying to save the whale; and calls on the Government to take note of public concern about whales and to campaign to put an end to the barbaric activity of whaling currently carried out by countries such as Japan, Norway and Iceland which continue to kill needlessly these great mammals under the guise of scientific research purposes.
This motion has been signed by a total of 62 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
