Einstein Year 2005
EDM number 662 in 2004-05, proposed by Parmjit Singh Gill on 04/02/2005.
That this House welcomes the events and activities being organised across the UK and Ireland as part of Einstein Year 2005 which aims to enthuse young people about physics and highlight the contribution of contemporary physics to society; notes that Einstein Year is the UK and Ireland's contribution to the celebrations of World Year of Physics; congratulates the Institute for Physics for co-ordinating these events, including the Postcards from Titan public discussions organised by Cafe Scientifique in Leicester; further notes that 2005 marks the centenary of the three papers by Albert Einstein who, at the age of only 26, revolutionised humankind's understanding of physics; and encourages as many schools, clubs societies and museums as possible to get involved by visiting the Einstein year 2005 website at www.einsteinyear.org.
