Tibet And Religious Freedom In China

EDM number 541 in 2004-05, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 18/01/2005.

That this House condemns the Chinese Government over its treatment of Tibet and for a regime of religious intolerance within the People's Republic of China; notes that China is due to host the 2008 Olympic Games; recognises that the Olympic Games look to promote peace, tolerance and fairness and that, according to the Olympic Committee website, 'the Olympic Games have always brought people together in peace to respect universal moral principles'; and therefore calls upon the Chinese Government to put in practice the principles of tolerance, fairness and peace both in relation to Tibet and towards Christians living in China who wish to practise their faith.

This motion has been signed by a total of 58 MPs.
