Asian Earthquake And The Scout Movement

EDM number 483 in 2004-05, proposed by Bob Russell on 12/01/2005.

That this House notes that of the world's 28 million scouts, more than 12 million live in countries affected by the disaster caused by the Asian earthquake and subsequent tsunami; pays tribute to the Scout organisations in these countries who have responded with many acts of assistance with immediate relief work; welcomes the mobilisation of World Scouting to provide help and pledges of continuing support for the reconstruction of the affected communities; offers its particular thanks to UK Scouts who are working in a co-ordinated way with the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Office and the national Scout organisations in the affected countries; and acknowledges with pride the important role that scouting is undertaking in the wake of the tragedy, amongst whose casualties are many scouts.

This motion has been signed by a total of 55 MPs.
