Biomass
EDM number 28 in 2004-05, proposed by Tim Yeo on 23/11/2004.
That this House acknowledges the benefits that energy from biomass offers the United Kingdom; recognises that it can play a critical role in reducing UK greenhouse gas emissions; notes the significant environmental and economic benefits of using farm waste, such as slurry and poultry litter, to produce energy and the opportunities that energy crops offer farmers, landowners and rural communities to diversify their activities and rebuild rural economies in a sustainable manner; and calls on the Government to ensure that the new Biomass Taskforce is given the strength and resources to develop positive policy recommendations that will facilitate the growth of this industry.
