Liquefied Petroleum Gas Powered Vehicles
EDM number 20 in 2004-05, proposed by Tim Yeo on 23/11/2004.
That this House recognises that models of cars powered by liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) are among the cleanest commercially available running on British roads; notes that the fuel duty differential in favour of LPG was a major factor in persuading over 100,000 motorists to adopt this environmentally friendlier fuel; believes that putting up duty rate on LPG risks sending the wrong message to potential future users and to potential investors in cleaner alternative technologies; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to maintain a favourable fuel duty differential between LPG and other fuels so that the number of LPG vehicles can continue to grow towards its fullest potential.
