Fluoridation Of Water In Scotland
EDM number 185 in 2004-05, proposed by Brian H Donohoe on 25/11/2004.
That this House welcomes the decision by the Scottish Executive to abandon its proposals to introduce fluoride into the public water supply in Scotland; believes that to add fluoride to the public water supplies without prior consultation with members of the public would result in the mass medication of a population and is a threat to freedom of choice; and congratulates the First Minister on his Executive's proposals to improve oral health in Scotland through education of healthier diets and more proactive dentistry for the population, recognising that these are much more effective in tackling the problem of tooth decay.
