Recruitment Of Nurses From Developing Countries
EDM number 112 in 2004-05, proposed by Andrew Lansley on 23/11/2004.
That this House notes that a large proportion of entrants to the nursing workforce are from overseas and that the Government is aware that its own Code of Practice on ethical recruitment from developing countries has not been signed up to by all the agencies which the NHS uses to recruit nurses from overseas; believes that the Government's commitment in August 2004 to strengthen the Code does not go far enough to solve the problem; and calls on the Government to ban the NHS from using recruitment agencies which have not signed up to its own Code of Practice.
This motion has been signed by a total of 74 MPs.
