Reform Of The Common Agricultural Policy(2)
EDM number 574 in 2003-04, proposed by Malcolm Bruce on 05/02/2004.
That this House believes that Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is failing small-scale farmers, taxpayers, consumers and many rural communities in Britain and that it undermines the livelihoods of producers in developing countries and encourage practices that harm the environment; is concerned about the lack of freedom of information regarding recipients of CAP payments and that public concerns are not being met by the current slow pace of reform; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to make further reform of the CAP a negotiating priority, use its influence in Europe to table proposals which will end the current deadlock in trade talks, and make a commitment to end direct and indirect export subsidies that lead to dumping.
