That this House acknowledges the benefits that energy from biomass offers the United Kingdom; recognises that it can play a critical role in reducing our greenhouse gas emissions; notes that significant environmental and economic benefits of using farm waste, such as slurry and poultry litter, to produce energy; and understands that in the wider context biomass and specifically energy crops offer farmers, landowners and rural communities existing new opportunities to diversify their activities and rebuild their rural economies in a sustainable manner.
