Sale Of British Apples In Supermarkets
EDM number 33 in 2003-04, proposed by Theresa May on 26/11/2003.
That this House notes that only 30 per cent. of apples sold in supermarkets in the UK are British-grown; recognises that, according to a report carried out by Friends of the Earth, greengrocers and market stalls stock more British apples, sold at a cheaper price; and calls on the United Kingdom supermarket chains to support British produce and stock a greater percentage of British apples, providing consumers with the opportunity to support British produce.
