Member For Leicester West And Aberdeen Post Offices
EDM number 1725 in 2003-04, proposed by Malcolm Bruce on 13/10/2004.
That this House notes the error made by the honourable Member for Leicester West when she urged the honourable Member for Twickenham during Trade and Industry Questions on 16th September 'If he wants to help post offices, I suggest that he talks to his Liberal Democrat friends in Aberdeen Council, who have stopped people being able to pay their council tax, council rents and business rates at the post office' when it was the previous Labour administration who withdrew these services from the citizens of Aberdeen; welcomes the fact the Liberal Democrat led administration is close to concluding an agreement to reinstate the payment service, but regrets that as a result of the Government's incompetent and incoherent policies the Liberal Democrat led council administration is too late to prevent the closure of 10 sub-post offices within the city, while congratulating the Liberal Democrat council led campaign which saved four branches threatened with closure.
