Childline In Nottingham;amdt. Line 2:

EDM number 1559A1 in 2003-04, proposed by Annette Brooke on 21/07/2004.

Line 2, leave out from 'offers' to end and insert 'notes that ChildLine has grown considerably in its 18 years and is now answering an average of 2,300 children per day, but needs to answer more calls from children in danger or distress; recognises that, in common with other UK charities, ChildLine's income has suffered this year; regrets that this affects ChildLine's offices in Nottingham in particular; welcomes the culmination of the month-long consultation process, which has resulted in offers of new free premises in Nottingham allowing volunteer counsellors, supported by paid staff, to continue to offer comfort, advice and protection to the children and young people who call; to continue to offer comfort, advice and protection to the children and young people who call; and finally notes that ChildLine in England receives only 4% of its income from statutory sources and calls on the Government to recognise the crucial service ChildLine - the UK-wide, 24-hour confidential helpline - provides in the child protection system.'

This is a ammendment to 1559.
