Depression
EDM number 1026 in 2003-04, proposed by Laura Moffatt on 21/04/2004.
That this House supports National Depression Week and its aims to raise awareness that one in five people will be affected by depression at some point in their lives and the need to defeat the stigma associated with it; notes the resurrection of the All Party Group on Depression and wishes it success for the future; further notes the essential work being done by Depression Alliance in raising awareness of depression as a treatable condition and providing support services and education tools to those affected; and calls on the Government to ensure that depression received due attention within mental health service provision as befits a condition set to become the second biggest health burden in the world by 2020.
