Hummingbird Appeal
EDM number 788 in 2002-03, proposed by Paul Marsden on 26/02/2003.
That this House expresses concern that after ú200,000 was raised by the Hummingbird Appeal, for a new diabetes centre at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, with the important support of the Shrewsbury Chronicle, the Board of the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital NHS Trust has refused to fund the balance required to build the centre after claiming that the original estimate it calculated was ú200,000 too low and has stated that the charity will have to raise this additional ú200,000 before the centre can be built; urges health ministers to investigate the circumstances leading up to the hospital's decision to refuse to fund fully this important service needed for diabetics in Shropshire and Mid Wales; and demands the Board urgently review its decision.
This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
