Access To Healthcare In Palestine

EDM number 752 in 2002-03, proposed by Mohammad Sarwar on 24/02/2003.

That this House notes the detrimental effect Israeli occupation is having on Palestinians living in the occupied territories; is shocked by recent Christian Aid findings of extreme poverty for Palestinians and the difficulties recent tightening of military occupation is having in respect of the charity delivering essential humanitarian aid; notes that Palestinians are being refused access to basic health facilities and that emergency vehicles are being stopped unnecessarily at checkpoints; congratulates the efforts of Christian Aid; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to make the strongest possible representations to the Government of Israel to withdraw Israeli forces to positions held prior to September 2000, in order to allow humanitarian work to be carried out unimpeded.
