Reorganisation Of Plymouth University
EDM number 71 in 2002-03, proposed by Richard Younger-Ross on 13/11/2002.
That this House is concerned at the proposal by the University of Plymouth to relocate the courses at its outlying colleges to the main campus; believes that these proposals will undermine the link between the University and the local community, will lead to redundancies and will, in particular, affect the rural economy close to Seale Hayne College; further believes that the claims of academic gains still need to be proved and are not sufficient to offset the deleterious effects of the closure, and calls upon the University of Plymouth to extend the consultation period from four weeks to 12 weeks to allow a proper debate on the proposals.
