leave out from 'notes' to end and add: 'with interest the way Stockport Council is implementing the Labour Government's policy of stock transfer in close partnership with the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, and overseen by the Independent Tenants Advisory Service; commends the Council for its long-standing attempts to secure loan sanction from successive governments that would have allowed it to improve its housing stock and avoid the necessity for stock transfer, for its scrupulous adherence to the procedures and legislation governing tenants' ballots, including The Data Protection Act, and for its repeated public declarations that it is a matter for tenants to decide what is in their best interests.'.
