Men Of The Calais Diversionary Force

EDM number 39 in 2002-03, proposed by Patsy Calton on 13/11/2002.

That this House wishes to see public recognition for the 3,000 men of the Calais Diversionary Force who went to certain capture or death in May 1940 to allow 240,000 lives to be saved at Dunkirk and for the suffering of those who survived as prisoners of war, force marched hundreds of miles at both ends of the war, inadequately fed, shod and clothed and forced to work in conditions such as the coal mines surrounding Auschwitz.
