ALZHEIMER'S AWARENESS WEEK 2003
EDM number 1532 in 2002-03, proposed by Liam Fox on 07/07/2003.
That this House notes the importance of Alzheimer's Awareness Week, 6th to 12th July, and praises the Alzheimer's Society for raising awareness of this disease and initiating this noteworthy campaign; wholeheartedly supports Alzheimer's Awareness Week, the theme of which this year is Mind your Head, focusing on the steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of dementia in the future; encourages further research into dementia and takes notes of recent research into dementia which increasingly indicates links between a healthy heart and healthy brain; further notes the importance of recognising that leading a healthy lifestyle, and following all the relevant advice, still cannot guarantee that dementia can be avoided, even if the risk is reduced; congratulates the Alzheimer's Society on its continuing research into the disease, and praises the Society for its endeavour to provide information on dementia to those who suffer from the disease, those close to them, and also to the general public; and wishes Alzheimer's Awareness Week the very best success.
