Suez Veterans 1951-1954

That this House welcomes the meeting between the Sub-Committee of the Committee on the Grant of Honours, Decorations and Medals, chaired by Lord Guthrie of Craigiebank, and a group of Suez veterans on Friday 22nd November; urges Lord Guthrie and his sub-committee to consider the strong argument for a medal to be granted as presented by Suez veterans; anticipates a positive outcome following the Committee's deliberation of the case for a General Service Medal in light of new evidence; and believes that these veterans, who have so long campaigned for recognition of their armed service in the Canal Zone, should receive recognition for their efforts, in this the Queen's Jubilee year.
