Cluster Bombs And The Iraq War
EDM number 1019 in 2002-03, proposed by Austin Mitchell on 07/04/2003.
That this House urges the Prime Minister to demand of the Americans that they stop using cluster bombs; asks the Secretary of State for Defence to ban their use by British forces, on the grounds that such weapons of inhumanity should never be the front line of civilisation and should not be used in a war fought for humanitarian purposes to bring freedom to Iraq; and emphasises that unexploded cluster bomblets remain a danger to civilians and particularly to children long after the battle is over.
