EDM number 1693 in 2001-02, proposed by Paul Burstow on 23/07/2002.

That this House is concerned that repetitive strain injury, text message injury and playstation thumb may cause damage to the fingers of our nation's children; notes that only ú97,000 has been invested in research into repetitive strain injury and that none has been allocated to looking at the long-term effects on children; also notes that increasing numbers of children are using gaming consoles, mobile phones and personal computers; and calls upon the Government to commission research into the possible long-term damage caused by repetitive strain injury and text message injury to children and to provide more information to parents and guardians on the effects that repetitive strain injury can have.
