Gm Foods And Human Health

EDM number 1669 in 2001-02, proposed by Alan Simpson on 18/07/2002.

That this House notes with concern that research by scientists at Newcastle University has shown that DNA from genetically-modified foods has been able to transfer into the human gut; recognises that the potential for transferring antibiotic resistance, used as marker genes in GM crops, could then seriously compromise natural resistance and immune systems; and calls for the immediate suspension of use of all GM Crops and products currently using antibiotic resistant marker genes.

This motion has been signed by a total of 30 MPs.
