That this House notes with concern the circumstances in which Jenson Marriott of Shipley died in St. James's Hospital, Leeds on 21st January 1998 of a rare and incurable cancer at the age of 21 years; calls upon health authorities in the Yorkshire region to ensure that patients with terminal cancer are treated in an appropriate, timely and sensitive manner, that medical practitioners are given training in communicating with such patients and that carers are given full information and proper support; and further notes that a charity has been established in memory of Jenson Marriott to raise funds to financially support young black actors.
